Bee Journey

6/12/2019

I mastered the smoker today.  Paper and woodchips.  Build a fire, packin straw or pine needles, done.  It will last for hours.  Reload if needed.

A rogue swarm moved into a box on the ground.  second swarm that showed up this season.  I'll keep just one here at the house.  Neighbors are out to get me :)

I took the rogue hive up to Twin Falls and the bees left behind, those out foraging, homeless, formed a new QUEENLESS   hive in a nuc box stored against the wall. That makes the 3rd swarm I have acquired this June by volunteer move-in.

We have a "secret hive" in the back yard (secret from the complaining neighbors) I took the two empty boxes off the top, not really empty, filled with new brood hanging from the roof.  Hope I didn't kill the queen - the box is buzzing like mad and quite busy outside kind of like too many bees for the space now.  Soon I will add a honey super.

Check for varroa as it's a volunteer swarm.
